Indiana Regional Medical Center recently hosted its 11th annual summer nurse extern program for selected senior-level nursing students.

The program provides externs with an opportunity to strengthen and reinforce their knowledge and skills in nursing under the direct supervision of registered nurse preceptors.

It encourages retention among regional nurse education graduates through the concept of paid work-learning practice experience.

The externs were employed by IRMC for nine weeks.
