Playwright to attend Players' production

Brian Hampton, of New York, and playwright of “The Jungle Fun Room,” will be in Indiana on Friday to attend the Indiana Players’ performance of his show and participate in an “Ask the Author” question-and-answer session afterward. While family-friendly, the play explores the theme of how the decisions we make in our lives affect ourselves and others.

Performances will take place at The Indiana Playhouse, 725 Philadelphia St., Indiana. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and a Sunday matinee is at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for seniors and students, and $8 for children 5 and younger.

Brian Hampton is an award-winning writer, actor, teacher and producer. His plays have been performed across the country and include “The Jungle Fun Room,” “Checking In” and “Gossip.”

He is frequently a guest teacher, resident playwright and is the founding producer of “The Puzzle” New Play Festival in New York City. He was also the president of his own production company, Small Town Dangerous, for five years, producing several shows including the independent feature film of his play, “Checking In.” As an actor, he’s worked in regional theater as well as in New York City.

Hampton and his plays have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times Arts Beat, Broadwayworld, Fox 5, Playbill, Time Out New York, The Daily Press, NYTheatre and TheatreMania, among many others.
