Poker run proceeds benefit Red Cross
As a nonprofit organization, the American Red Cross relies on the generosity of community members to fulfill its humanitarian mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.
The Indiana Moose Lodge recently helped in that effort by hosting a poker run event to benefit the local Red Cross in Indiana.
On June 29, more than 30 motorcycle riders participated in the poker run to benefit the Red Cross of Indiana County.
The Indiana Moose Lodge raised a total of $1,250 for the local organization.
The motorcycle event began at noon with a send-off from Skip McGreevy, an Indiana County chapter board member.
The event started and ended at Indiana Moose Lodge 174.
Riders traveled on a course that took them to five other moose lodges across Indiana County before returning to the Indiana Lodge.
Riders donated $15 each to participate, and passengers donated $10.
“We are very appreciative of the generosity of the Indiana Moose Lodge,” Donna Pacella, executive director of the local Red Cross, said in a release.
“Their kind contribution will help us continue to provide our vital services in the local community.”
All proceeds from the poker run will benefit local disaster relief.
So far this year, the Indiana County chapter has responded to 24 emergencies and provided services to nearly 28 families.
