PURCHASE LINE TO HOST DISTRICT BAND FEST
Student musicians from the Purchase Line School District will host the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 3 middle school band fest at 7 p.m. Friday at the Purchase Line High School auditorium.
More than 250 students from 24 schools in Indiana, Armstrong, Jefferson, Clarion and Venango counties will spend the day rehearsing for two concert performances, by a sixth-grade band and by seventh- and eighth-graders. The musicians are recommended by their directors and selected on merit by a committee.
David Ferguson, the assistant dean of the Department of Fine Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, will conduct the sixth-grade band and Hubert Toney, of Clarion, will direct the seventh- and eighth-grade musicians.
Pictured are the sixth-grade host musicians from Purchase Line Elementary School: front row, from left, Emily Peles, Breanna Behrendt, Abbie Ewing, Marley Rearick, David Fyock and Andrew Timko, and back row, Eliza Moore, Cecilia Kravarik, Jennifer Lomman, Quinn Scalese, Christian Gromley and Sam McWilliams. The concert is open to the public. Tickets are $4 and available at the door.
