A pair of  pups-in-training spent the day at Yellow Creek State Park during Saturday’s triathlon, getting accustomed to being around crowds and new environments.

Doug Russell, left, with the Department of Corrections Pine Grove, worked with Somerset, a 4-month-old black Lab.

Russell works with the TAILS project at Pine Grove and with United Disability Services.

Mary Curtin, with United Disability Services, spent time with Milton, a 4-month-old chocolate Lab.

Curtin helps train dogs for placement with special needs individuals. (James J. Nestor/Gazette photo)
