Takeback nets 119 pounds of drugs
Authorities collected 119 pounds of prescription medication during a weeklong drug takeback event last week at the Indiana Social Center.
The event was a collaboration among the Indiana County Sheriff’s Office, the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission, Diamond Drug and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
The program gives the public the chance to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
Americans are now advised that their usual methods of disposing of unused medicines, such as flushing them down the drain or throwing them in the trash, pose both safety and health hazards.
