Farewell luncheon

The Rev. Dr. Ann C. Miner has accepted a call to pastor two churches in southeastern Wyoming. Her last Sunday preaching in the pulpit of Center Presbyterian Church of Creekside will be Sunday, where worship starts at 11:15 a.m.

Based on a parable Jesus told, the sermon will be: “Are You a Seed or a Weed in God’s Kingdom?” Anyone who wants to celebrate Pastor Ann’s 5-1/2-year ministry at the church is invited to break bread together at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, White Township, after worship concludes.

Gospel singer to perform

Gospel singer Ron Druck will perform at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 at Alverda Faith Tabernacle Church in Alverda.

Those who attend are asked to bring a covered dish for a meal afterward.

On Aug. 10, the Indiana County Hymn Sing will be at the church from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Greens in concert

HOMER CITY — The Greens, of Fulton, N.Y., will present a Christian music concert at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday at the Homer City Church of the Nazarene, 3513 Route 119 South, Homer City. The vocal duo is composed of Les Green and his wife, Linda.

Outdoor concert

PENN RUN — An outdoor concert will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the picnic pavilion at the Penn Run Christian Outreach Center, 75 Grace Church Road, Penn Run.

The Masters will perform at 3 p.m. A free picnic supper will be held at 4:45 p.m. Faithful Friends will perform at 5:30 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Camp meeting

BURNSIDE — A camp meeting with evangelist Nick Wilson will be held daily through Friday at the Church of God Campground, Route 219, Burnside. Services will be held daily at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

There will also be children’s and youth programs. Wilson is pastor of the First Church of God in Kittanning, where he resides with his wife, Tiffany. He studied music at Edinboro University before answering God’s call to ministry. He published his first book, “The Culture of God’s Kingdom,” in January of 2013. Pulled pork dinner

DERRY — A pulled pork dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Derry First United Methodist Church. The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children 10 and under and $20 for families of four to six people.

There will be barbecue pork, plain pork, slider buns, Cole slaw, baked beans, mashed potatoes, dessert and drinks. For more information, call (724) 694-8333.

Son Day in the Park

CLYMER — The sixth annual Son Day in the Park will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Aug. 3 at Sherman Street Park, Clymer. The event is always free. An opening prayer, praise and worship service will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 2.

Participating churches are Clymer Christian & Missionary Alliance, Clymer United Methodist, Diamondville United Methodist, Dixonville Wesleyan, Purchase Line Church of the Brethren, Tanoma United Methodist and The Gap Ministry.

Judith Greene will begin the event with the welcome, and Anthony Frazier will give the opening prayer. The emcee will be Tom Pugh, pastor of the Penn Run Wesleyan Church. The main stage schedule follows:

Mega sports camp

Indiana Alliance Church will offer a mega sports camp from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4 to 8 at the White Township Recreation Center, along East Pike, White Township.

The free camp is available for children age 4 through grade 6. There will be basketball, soccer and cheerleading. All skill levels are welcome. To register, call Stacy at (724) 388-2381.

Clothing drive

CHERRY TREE — A gently used school clothing donation drive will accept donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Kinport Assembly of God, 5658 Route 240, between Uniontown and Cookport.

All donated clothing will be available during the Back to School Giveaway Aug. 9. School supplies will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 9. Registration begins at 9 a.m. No income information is taken. Children must be present and accompanied by an adult to receive new items and supplies.

Community praise service

BLAIRSVILLE — Churches of Blairsville come together at 6 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month to join in a time of worshipping God with musical praise. On Aug. 10, the United Presbyterian Church of Blairsville, 137 N. Walnut St., will host the service.

Women’s retreat

STOYSTOWN — The Camp Allegheny Women’s Retreat will be held Aug. 15 to 17 at the camp, 100 Camp Allegheny Drive, Stoystown.

Back-to-School Blowout

ARMAGH — The second annual Back-to-School Blowout will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 16 at Valley Grace Brethren Church, at Routes 56 and 22, Armagh.

Teachers from the United School District, along with volunteers from the Women of Faith group of Valley Grace Brethren Church, have planned the event as a way to reach out to the children of the community and help them start the school year right. The three rules for this free event are: children must be present to participate; children must be accompanied by an adult, regardless of age; and the event is not income-based. It is open to all school-age children.

KITTANNING — Harvest Community Church will hold “God’s NOT Dead” Movie Night at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Kittanning Campus, 143 Reed Road. The movie and refreshments are free.

Service in the park

KITTANNING — All three campuses of Harvest Community Church will join together for a Church Service in the Park at 10 a.m. Aug. 24 at Kittanning Riverfront Park.

Preschool registration

DAYTON — Sunshine Preschool is now taking registration for fall semester classes. The preschool is held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday on the lower level of Dayton United Methodist Church.

Classes are open to children ages 3 to 5. Sunshine Preschool is a Christian-based school that provides a safe, secure and nurturing atmosphere where each child may grow emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually to develop a lifelong love for learning.

Christian Singles Fellowship, of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, is offering a Retreat for Singles Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 at the Jumonville Camp and Retreat Center, Hopwood.

ROBINSON — The Robinson Church of the Brethren will hold a Southern gospel music concert with CrossOver at 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at the church, High Street, Robinson.

Home party and craft vendors sought

PENN RUN — The Penn Run Christian Outreach Center will hold a Holiday Home and Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8 at the center, 75 Grace Church Road, Penn Run.

Home party vendors such as Mary Kay, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, etc., as well as crafters are needed for the show. Spaces range in cost from $10 to $20.

A silent auction and pie auction will also be held. Homemade soups and baked goods will also be available.
