TEA: Women Growing in Faith will hold the Harmony Grove Lutheran Church’s first Ladies Day Out Tea March 29 at 6584 Five Points Road, Five Points. Registration will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. The guest speaker will be Michele Huey, writer of “God, Me and a Cup of Tea,” which appears weekly in the Indiana Gazette. She will speak on “What Kind of Bag Are You?”

Lunch will be provided and there will be door prizes. The cost is $15 per person. Enjoy a relaxing day of friends, food, music and spiritual guidance with fellow women. POLKA JAM: A polka jam will be held at 4 p.m. March 8 at Guy’s Tavern, 509 Westmoreland Ave., Avonmore. The sponsoring group this month will be the Avonmore, Bell Township, Saltsburg athletic group. Food and raffles will be available. Call (724) 697-5130 for more information.


GOWN SALE: A prom gown sale will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Whitesburg United Methodist Church, Route 422, Kittanning.

Prom gowns and jewelry will be available. Prom gowns are $50 each. Some still have tags showing prices of $300. The event is a fundraiser for a new ministry, The Celebration of Life,

Whitesburg UMC has private dressing rooms and will be staffed with TCOL volunteers. Light refreshments will be offered to benefit the church and TCOL ministries.

New and gently used prom gowns and accessories may be dropped off at the church on either day of the sale. For more information, call (412) 513-6438.


PANCAKE DINNER: The annual Shrove Tuesday pancake and sausage dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. March 4 at Hope Lutheran Church, 35 Ridge Ave., Homer City.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and younger. All proceeds go to ELCA Men in Mission. Dine in or carry out. For tickets, call the church office at (724) 479-9431.


FAITH FRIENDS: The Spring Church Lutheran Church spring session of Faith Friends in kindergarten through sixth grade will begin March 4 and continue each Tuesday evening through April 8. Each session begins at 5 p.m. with a light supper followed by a Bible story and craft. Evening sessions will conclude at 6:30 p.m. If school is canceled during the day due to weather, Faith Friends will be canceled as well. The theme is “Trust in God.”

HOLY LAND TRIP: The Rev. Paul Morris is planning to lead a group trip to the Holy Land. The group will depart on Nov. 10 for a 10-day trip that includes visits to Galilee, Nazareth, the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem and the Garden Tomb.

The travel/study program has been arranged by Educational Opportunities, a Christian tour company whose main objective is to provide pastors and laity with affordable, first-class learning experiences in the land of the Bible. The tour will include sightseeing, daily devotions and informative lectures.

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS: St. Bernard Regional Catholic School, 300 Clairvaux Drive, White Township, is accepting applications to register for the 2014-15 school year for 3-year-old preschool through eighth grade.

Tuition assistance is available for all grades, and beginning this year a Tuition Transfer Grant is also available for grades one through eight. This is a grant that will be offered to students transferring from a public, private, charter or home school.
