Upcoming community events announced
BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL: A country-bluegrass festival will be held May 9 and 10 at Sentry Volunteer Fire Hall on Route 219 in Burnside.
The festival will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. May 9 and a chicken barbecue will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. May 10. All bands are welcome to participate in this event benefiting the Sentry Volunteer Fire Co.
BUS TRIP: The Rainbow Diamond Glass Club is sponsoring a bus trip to Lewisburg on Saturday. Cost is $45. There will be antiquing at Rolling Mills Mall, which has 400 dealers, and Silver Moon Antiques. Lunch and shopping will be held at Country Cupboard. Call (724) 254-2239 for more information.
FLEA MARKET: The Indiana County Humane Society will hold its 13th annual flea market at the Indiana County fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 and noon to 4 p.m. May 4.
BINGO: Bow-Wow Bingo benefiting the Indiana County Humane Society will be held May 24 at the Indiana Eagles, 420 Philadelphia St., Indiana. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and early birds begin at 5:30 p.m. Regular games begin at 6 p.m.
The event will feature food, tickets, raffles and special games, as well as prizes for “almost winners.” Tickets are available at the door. Packets are available for a $35, $25 or $15 donation.
FLEA MARKET: Vendors are needed for a flea market on May 16 and17 at the Towne Hall, Elderton. Get rid of unwanted items and make some extra cash. Call (724) 354-3306 for more information.
MEETING: The Happy Homemakers will meet at Trinity United Methodist Church at 9 a.m. May 1 to carpool to Johnstown for a sightseeing trip and lunch.
CASH BASH: A cash bash to benefit the Avonmore Harvest Jubilee will be held May 3 at the Polish Club, 501 Indiana Ave., Avonmore. Doors will open at 2 p.m. The cost is $10 for two numbers, food and refreshments. The event is sponsored by the Avonmore Community Association.
RUMMAGE SALE: The First Christian Church at Fifth and Water streets, Indiana, will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 1 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 2 at the church.
MEETING: The annual spring meeting of the Ridge View Cemetery Association will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Elders Ridge Church Building.
