Upcoming community events announced
MEETING: The Retired Public Employees of Pennsylvania, Sub Chapter 8301, will hold its summer picnic July 24 at the VFW on Indian Springs Road, White Township.
The summer picnic is a wonderful celebration for the sub chapter. Reservations are necessary. Please contact Dotti Gabelli, the club social leader, at (724) 465-7332 to make your reservation. Baskets for the auction or a $5 gift are appreciated. The doors will open at 11 a.m. and the lunch will be served at noon. This is a good time for all, so please make your reservation and join us in this celebration.
DINNER: St. Anne’s Byzantine Catholic Church will host its annual grilled chicken and halushki (cabbage and homemade dumplings) dinner July 26 in the church parking lot, 360 Franklin St., Clymer. The event is takeout only from 11 a.m. until it is sold out. The cost is $10 and the meal is served with a vegetable, baked beans, roll and dessert. All are welcome.
DINNER: Christ our Savior Orthodox Church will hold a ham and holupki dinner from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 20 at the church on the corner of Tanoma Road and Route 286 East, Rayne Township. The cost is $10 for adults, $3 for children 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger. There will be a fast takeout line. The public is welcome.
FAMILY FUN DAY: Harvest Community Church will have a Family Fun Day from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Blue Spruce Park near Ernest. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. There will be games, fishing (bring gear), a playground, hiking and fun for all ages.
ROAST BEEF DINNER: The Helping Hands of the Robinson Evangelical United Methodist Church will hold a roast beef dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the church fellowship hall, 332 Mary St., Robinson. Cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for ages 4 and younger.
