COMMUNITY SALE: The McIntyre/Coal Run community yard sale will be held Friday through Sunday beginning at 8 a.m.


BOOK DRIVE: The Indiana County Department of Human Services is sponsoring a children’s book drive until Aug. 20. The department will be collecting new or gently used books to help enable children to gain the literacy skills they need. The books being requested are for all ages, but specifically newborn to 17 years. The books will be presented to agencies that work with children in Indiana County such as Family Promise of Indiana County, The CARE Center of Indiana County and others.

Books can be dropped off at the Indiana County Department of Human Services, 300 Indian Springs Road, Suite 203, Indiana, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, the Indiana County YMCA or the Back to School Bash on Aug. 16.

DANCE: The Indiana Social Center, 1001 Oak St., Indiana, has special entertainment scheduled for Aug. 5. At 11:30 a.m., the Silver Spurs Line Dancers will dance and entertain with one of their programs. No reservation is needed to come and watch them dance, but if you’d like to stay for lunch, you must call the center at (724) 465-2697.


COMMUNITY BREAKFASTS: Beginning in August, Tuesday community breakfasts will be held at the Saltsburg Social Center, 212 Point St., Saltsburg, from 9 to 10 a.m. The cost of the breakfast stays the same at $2.50. Friends, family and neighbors are welcome. No reservation is required for the breakfast.

WOMEN’S RETREAT: The Camp Allegheny Women’s Retreat will be held Aug. 15 to 17 at the camp, 100 Camp Allegheny Drive, Stoystown.

CLOTHING‚ÄąDRIVE: A gently used school clothing drive will accept donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday at the Kinport Assembly of God, 5658 Route 240, between Uniontown and Cookport.

All donated clothing will be available during the Back to School Giveaway Aug. 9. School supplies will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 9. Registration begins at 9 a.m. No income information is taken. Children must be present and accompanied by an adult to receive new items and supplies.
