AROUND THE AREA: Fast Times wins in rout
Fast Times Screen Printing thumped Italian Village Pizza, 18-1, in an Indiana Area Baseball Boosters game Wednesday.
Kevin Snyder stroked three singles and a triple to lead Fast Times. Scott Shirley and Nick Onuscheck each singled twice and doubled, Tom Barnes singled twice and tripled, and Adam Mathe and Anthony Stipcak tacked on two hits apiece.
Winning pitcher Lucas Chakot allowed one run and five hits in five innings.
McDonald’s wins interleague game
CREEKSIDE — McDonald’s outscored Marion Center’s Indiana Eye Care, 10-9, in a Little League interleague baseball game Sunday.
The teams combined for 23 hits.
McDonald’s took the lead for good on Axel Kovalchick’s three-run home run with Gunner Sharp and Luke Thomas aboard in the sixth inning. Kovalchick finished with three hits, and Thomas banged out three hits and drove in three runs. Ewing Greenhill slugged a home run and drove in three runs.
Sanso’s wins fastpitch game
Sanso’s defeated Shannock Valley, 14-12, in a 14-and-under girls’ fastpitch softball game. Holley George banged out four hits, and Hope Hixson posted the win on the mound.
Two IASB teams close with wins
Indiana Area Soccer Boosters teams won a pair of games on the last weekend of the season.
The Lightning, a U10 girls’ team, beat Penn Hill, 2-1, behind a pair of goals by Emily Sebring and the goaltending of Emily Scherf. The team finished the season with a 4-3-1 record.
The Thunder, a U12 girls’ team, beat Plum, 6-0, as Sidney Turner scored twice and Ella Spadafora and Grace Mullen teamed up for the shutout in goal. Mullen, Paige Almes, Brooke Ianarelli and Jenna Monteleone each added a goal. The team finished with a 5-1 record.
The Blackhawks, a U10 boys’ team, lost to Somerset 6-0. Jack Mock and Nickolas Detwiler shared time in goal. The team finished with a 5-2-1 record.
The Red Hawks, a U10 boys’ team lost to Monroeville 5-3. Ethan Sheared scored two goals and had an assist, and Danny Turner added a goal and an assist. Aaron McKelvey and Jack Turner also had an assist apiece. Jack Turner and McKelvey played in goal. The team finished with a 5-3 record.
The U12 Red Hawks lost to Yough 6-3. Cian Williamson-Rea, Trevor Walls and Cameron Walls scored the goals, and Williamson-Rea and Isaac ArguetaValle played in goal. The team finished with a 4-4 record.
The Blackhawks, a U12 boys’ team, lost to East Allegheny 7-0. The team finished with a 1-6-1 record.
