CHURCH LEAGUE SOFTBALL: First-place Gilgal improves to 14-3

Gilgal Presbyterian improved to 14-3 by defeating Grace Methodist I, 18-8, in an Indiana County Church League softball game Friday.

Scott Bowman, Bill Gasior and George Campbell each went 4-for-4 to power Gilgal Presbyterian. Charles Waller singled twice, tripled and drove in four runs, Jason Johnston singled, doubled, homered and drove in two runs, and Jeff Cribbs earned the win.

Doug Karlovich led Grace Methodist I by going 4-for-4.

The win by Gilgal sets up a key showdown for first place with CMA next week. At 14-3, Gilgal is a half-game ahead of CMA (13-3) for first place in the league standings, and the teams are scheduled to meet Monday with the top seed for the upcoming playoffs on the line.
