CLYMER — Clymer Legion jumped out to an early eight-run lead and then rode the arms of Kody Templeton and Austin Hill to its first win, 8-5, over visiting Indiana Lions in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game Wednesday.

Clymer Legion got on the board first and scored seven runs on six hits and an error in the bottom of the first inning. Joe Pugh ripped an RBI single the following inning to make the score 8-0.

“We jumped on them early and then we just went flat,” Clymer Legion coach Dave Templeton said. “Our pitching just held up in the end. They took advantage of a few key errors we committed, but Kody and Austin hardly walked anyone.”

Kody Templeton struck out four, walked one and allowed six hits in four innings to earn the win, and Austin Hill allowed three hits and one run in three innings of relief. Pugh singled and doubled, and Hill singled twice.

Chase Cunningham singled twice and doubled to lead Indiana Lions.
