Firearm safety course rescheduled
A firearm safety and marksmanship course will be held weekly on Tuesdays beginning at 5 p.m. in the sportsman building at Mack Park.
The program is open to boys and girls ages 9 and over.
Adults are welcome to attend the sessions with minimal cost for expendable materials. The program is free to children.
Precision rifles, both .22-caliber and .177-caliber, will be used. Eye and ear protection is mandatory.
The National Rifle Association has funded the program with a grant and will provide all necessary equipment and ammunition.

Ruffed grouse group set banquet
GREENSBURG — The Western Allegheny Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society will hold its 23rd annual Conservation and Sportsmen’s Banquet on Friday, Jan. 31, at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m.
Proceeds will be used to restore and protect area grouse and woodcock habitat. The evening will feature a live and silent auction, games, drawings and door prizes, highlighted with the finest selection of quality firearms, artwork and collectables.
Individual membership and dinner tickets are $70. There also is a membership and spouse package for $130 and a junior membership (17 and under) and dinner ticket for $30.
