CROSS COUNTRY: IHS runners qualify for states
SLIPPERY ROCK — A school record four Indiana runners qualified for the state championships by each placing in the top 20 in Thursday’s WPIAL Class AA Cross Country Championships at Cooper’s Lake.
Sam Lenze, Adam Lenze, Ryan Louther and Kacey Raible will each compete in next Saturday’s PIAA State Championships.
Additionally, for the first time in school history, both the Indiana boys’ and girls’ teams placed in the top 10 in the WPIAL. The boys’ team placed seventh, and the girls’ team finished ninth.
Sam Lenze paced the boys’ team by placing 15th with a time of 17 minutes, 27 seconds. Adam Lenze (17:32) finished 18th, and Louther (17:33) took 19th.
Eamon McArdle (19:55), Brian Bowersox (19:58) and Austin Rhodes (19:58) rounded out Indiana’s top five runners.
On the girls’ side, Raible qualified for states for the second straight year, placing 19th with a time of 20:55.
Indiana’s other top five runners were Melanie Zolocsik (21:38), Taylor Thomas (22:43), Jessica Lenze (22:47) and Teresa Roth (23:24).
