Divine Destiny wins softball title
Divine Destiny Ministries swept past CMA earlier this week in the Indiana County Church League softball best-of-three championship series, unseating the defending league champions. The scores of the games were not reported to the Gazette.
Divine Destiny ended the season on a 13-game winning streak, which included a two-game sweep of CMA in the finals. Divine Destiny’s Curt Thomas, who held CMA to five runs in the two-game finals sweep, was named the postseason MVP.
It was Divine Destiny’s sixth league title.
Jeremy Schall (.684 batting average), Curt Thomas (.648) and Scott Pifer (.641) were Divine Destiny’s offensive leaders on the season.
Stephen Thomas led the team with eight home runs, and Troy Reese racked up 39 RBIs.
Kirk Weaver and Steve Timko led CMA with six hits each during the championship series.
