GOLF: Indiana's Hughes selected to play in Scotland

C.J. Hughes, of Indiana, has been selected to participate in the International Junior Golf Tour’s Euro Cup July 31 to Aug. 2 in St. Andrews, Scotland.

Hughes is one of 14 players from 10 states to compete for Team USA against teams from Canada and Scotland.

The competition includes six rounds — three practice and three competitive — at Scotscraig Golf Club, Leven Golf Club and Drumoig Golf Club.


PETERMAN WINS TOURNEY: Seth Peterman, of Clymer, placed first in his age division in the North East Junior Golf Tour’s event at Sinking Valley Country Club in Tyrone on Monday.

Peterman fired an 84 and placed first in the boys’ 16-18 Pine Valley Division. Roman Tate, of Clymer, played in the same division, but he withdrew with an injury and did not post a score.

Ian Illig, of Homer City, fired a 76 and finished in second place in the boys’ 16-18 Oakmont Division. In that same division, Wade Semsick, of Indiana, posted an 86 and placed ninth, and Nathan Houck, of Indiana, carded a 100 and finished 11th.
