HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: INDIANA 63, DuBOIS 20
INDIANA 63, DuBOIS 20: Indiana jumped out to a 26-point halftime lead and more than doubled up DuBois in field goals en route to an easy win in a non-conference girls’ basketball game in DuBois.
The Indians built a 15-point first-quarter lead, 21-6, then held DuBois to just five second-quarter points to stretch their lead to 26 points, 37-11, by halftime.
Indiana made 10 of 16 free throws and hit 23 field goals to DuBois’ six.
Jessica Stever made three 3-point field goals and scored a game-high 20 points for Indiana. Kaitlyn Hoff added 19 points.
Indiana (4-3) plays host to New Castle on Monday.
BLAIRSVILLE 78, PURCHASE LINE 27: Chelsey Koren and Laurel O’Barto each scored 24 points, and two other Blairsville players reached double figures to power the Bobcats to a lopsided win over visiting Purchase Line in a Heritage Conference game.
Nicole Boyer had 14 points and six steals, and Kia Clayton added 10 points.
Koren also posted game-highs in rebounds and steals with 10 and eight, respectively. O’Barto tallied six steals.
Koren McCullough paced Purchase Line with six points.
Purchase Line plays Bald Eagle the Cambria Heights Holiday Tournament on Thursday. Blairsville (5-1, 3-0 conference) faces Delone Catholic in the first round of the Bishop Guilfoyle Holiday Tournament next Friday.
UNITED 50, HOMER-CENTER 33: United built a 17-point halftime lead and improved to 6-1 with an easy win over Homer-Center in a Heritage Conference game in Armagh.
United surrendered just nine points in the first half, including three points in the second quarter, and held a 26-9 halftime lead.
Eden Bloom racked up 19 points and eight rebounds to guide United. Taylor Mack added 14 points and three assists, and Kylee Surike had five rebounds and three assists.
Julia Buggey scored 12 points to lead Homer-Center.
Both teams play next Friday. United (6-1) takes on Bishop Guilfoyle in the first round of the Bishop Guilfoyle Holiday Tournament, and Homer-Center faces Tussey Mountain in the first round of the Richland Holiday Classic.
LIGONIER VALLEY 55, PENNS MANOR 30: Ligonier Valley mounted hefty runs in the second and fourth quarters and limited Penns Manor to just nine field goals en route to a win in a Heritage Conference game in Kenwood.
Ligonier Valley’s Taylor Rudnik led all scorers with 22 points. Helene Bloom had 10 rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocks, and Jamie Wynn added 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal.
Sarah DaBella led Penns Manor with 12 points and five steals. Mary Roach grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.
Penns Manor (1-5, 1-3) plays host to Williamsburg on Monday. Ligonier Valley (4-3, 3-1) plays a team to be announced in the first round of the Ligonier Valley Holiday Tournament.
MARION CENTER 60, NORTHERN CAMBRIA 27: Marion Center took a 29-point halftime lead, more than doubled up host Northern Cambria in field goals and ran its record to 6-1 by coasting to a win in a Heritage Conference game.
Marion Center’s Jenny Irvin made three 3-pointers and led all scorers with 13 points. Karlie Snyder added 10 points.
Katie Baum scored eight points to lead Northern Cambria.
Northern Cambria faces Cambria Heights in the first round of the Cambria Heights Holiday Tournament on Thursday. Marion Center (6-1) plays Hazelton in the first round of the Carl Truance Holiday Classic next Friday.
