HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Indiana girls win 13th straight
Kaitlyn Hoff scored a season-high 25 points, Indiana amassed 21 steals, and the Indians rolled to their 13th straight win, a 65-38 victory over host Ligonier Valley in a non-conference girls’ basketball game Friday.
“Kaitlyn Hoff just controlled the whole offense tonight,” Indiana assistant coach Otto Peterson said. “She was seeing the court well and making great passes, plus she was penetrating and getting to the foul line. She had a great night.”
Freshman Jess Stever chipped in 19 points and seven steals for Indiana (16-3). Abbey Karcher added nine points and a game-high eight steals, and Lucy Bujdos tacked on seven points and a game-best nine rebounds.
Taylor Rudnik led Ligonier Valley with 12 points.
Both teams play Monday. Indiana visits Greensburg Salem, and Ligonier Valley plays host to Marion Center.
SALTSBURG 61, HOMER-CENTER 52: Saltsburg’s Abbie Okopal scored a career-high 23 points, Abbey Peace posted a double-double, and the Trojans used a big second half to hold off visiting Homer-Center in a Heritage Conference game.
Okopal added five steals and five assists, and Peace finished with 13 points, five blocks, five steals and a game-best 16 rebounds. Emilie Okopal added 16 points, six assists and four steals, Olivia Satler had eight rebounds and four steals, and Ashton Battistelli had three steals.
Julia Buggey paced Homer-Center with 18 points. Kristina Albright added 17 points.
Satlsburg (7-8) travels to Purchase Line on Monday, and Homer-Center plays host to Blairsville on Tuesday.
CALVARY BAPTIST 46, HUNTINGDON CHRISTIAN 35: Calvary Baptist’s Megan Plants scored a game-high 20 points, Kayla Chambers had a double-double, and the Patriots coasted past host Huntingdon Christian for their seventh straight win in a non-conference game.
Chambers piled up 18 points, six assists and 15 rebounds, and Plants added four steals.
Calvary Baptist (14-2) travels to Cambria County Christian on Monday.
