HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Calvary Baptist improves to 5-1
ALTOONA — Calvary Baptist improved to 5-1 by defeating Great Commission, 6-3, in a non-conference boys’ soccer match Monday.
Andy Knupp scored four goals to pace Calvary Baptist. Jerry Zhang added two goals, and goalie Joel Knupp made 12 saves.
Calvary Baptist plays host to Cambria County Christian on Monday.
Indiana wins soccer matches
Indiana Big League Haircuts won a pair of adult soccer matches over the weekend.
Big League Haircuts defeated the Pittsburgh Dynamo, 2-0. Bryan Wilkins and Matt McKelvy each scored a goal for Indiana. Goalie Kevin Kerr notched a shutout.
Big League Haircuts also blanked the Tartan Daredevils, 8-0. Chad Hojnoski led Indiana with five goals. Scott Heasley added two goals, Rich Stiteler had a goal, and Kerr earned a shutout.
IASB teams win four in a row
Indiana Area Soccer Boosters teams won four games over the weekend.
The U-12 Blackhawks boys’ team blanked Somerset, 3-0. Aaron McKelvy scored two goals, Trent White added a goal, and Dan Turner and Josh Glasser each had an assist. Jack Turner and Josh Kardell shared time in goal.
The U-12 Storm girls’ team thumped Kiski, 10-0. Caelia Williams scored four goals. Hannah Scardina, Isabel Tillett and Emily Sebring each netted two, and Rachel Bowman had an assist. Renee Hill and Alicia Mitchell played goalie.
The U-10 Blackhawks boy’s team beat Penn Hills, 7-1. Vince Belice scored three goals, and Isaac Myers added two. Noah Grattan had a goal and two assists, and David Scardina chipped in a goal. Kaeden Parks tacked on three assists, and Kobi Parks had two assists. Ethan Kutz, Jack Mock and Xander Williams played in goal.
The U-10 Lightning girls’ team beat Loyalhanna, 14-0. Isabella Garzarelli scored four goals. Monica Turnball, Hailey Drennen, Emily Scherf and Sophia Garzarelli each had two goals, and Sydney Hojnoski and Reagan Ryen each added a goal.
