HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Indiana outlasts Burrell for non-section win
Indiana mustered just six hits but scored a run in each of the first, third and fourth innings to outlast visiting Burrell in a pitchers’ duel, 3-2, in a WPIAL non-section softball game Tuesday.
Harley Gettings drove in what turned out to be the game-winning run when she legged out an RBI infield single that scored Emma Stossel to give Indiana a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Indiana pitcher Lauren Bertig then closed out the win by limiting the Bucs to just three hits, a walk and a run in the last three innings.
“Lauren pitched a really good game,” Indiana coach Harold Wilson said. “It was a good defensive game on both sides. We were just fortunate to get a run on a hustle play. Harley just hit one of those spinners that was difficult to field.”
Bertig struck out five and walked three in a seven-hitter, and Haleigh Zimmerman finished 2-for-3.
Indiana (4-4) travels to Mount Pleasant on Thursday.

Klonowski struck out seven and walked one in a six-hitter, and Jenna Miller singled twice.
For Penns Manor, Tish Patterson and Grace Tomayko stroked two singles apiece, and Sarra Lopez fanned six, walked two and allowed six hits in a complete-game losing effort.
