HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Indians stay perfect by sweeping Kittanning

Indiana pulled off a sweep of Kittanning, 25-22, 25-16, 25-23, in a WPIAL Section 3-AA match at Fifth Street Gymnasium, remaining perfect in both section and overall play.

Natalie Cignetti led the Indians with 13 kills. Brianna Dillon had 21 assists, and Helena Dadson made five blocks.

Indiana won the junior varsity match, two games to one.

Indiana (10-0, 7-0 section) travels to Ligonier Valley for a non-conference match on Monday.


LIGONIER VALLEY 3, HOMER-CENTER 0: Ligonier Valley improved to 9-2 overall and 8-1 in the Heritage Conference with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-13 sweep of host Homer-Center.

Catou Cmar had 19 service points and had six aces to lead the Rams. Taylor Rudnik added five kills.

Ligonier Valley won the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-21.

Ligonier Valley plays host to Indiana on Monday, and Homer-Center visits Blairsville on Tuesday.


PURCHASE LINE 3, MARION CENTER 0: Purchase Line got past host Marion Center, 25-11, 25-20, 25-8, in a Heritage Conference match.

Jacelyn Fleming led the Red Dragons with 10 kills, and Allison Goodlin added six. Amy Elling dished out 26 assists and scored 10 service points. Ashley Goodlin had nine service points and four digs, and Rachel Phillips has seven service points and three aces.

Purchase Line won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-16.

Both teams play Tuesday. Purchase Line (6-5) welcomes Penns Manor and Marion Center visits Ligonier Valley.


GREENSBURG SALEM 3, APOLLO-RIDGE 0: Apollo-Ridge lost another WPIAL Section 3-AA match, falling to Greensburg Salem, 25-17, 25-14, 25-12, in Apollo.

Courtney Casella and Kayla Gunnerson had four kills each, and Gunnerson added five blocks.

Kira Marks made six blocks, and Vanessa Stegner had 13 digs.

Greensburg Salem won the junior varsity match, 25-5, 25-8.

Apollo-Ridge plays host to Highlands on Monday.


BLAIRSVILLE 3, UNITED 0: Host Blairsville swept United, 26-14, 25-15, 25-16, in a Heritage Conference match.

The Bobcats also won the junior varsity match, 27-25, 26-24.

Both teams play at home on Tuesday. Blairsville (4-8) welcomes Homer-Center, and United plays host to Northern Cambria.
