HOCKEY: IYHA teams win three games
Indiana Youth Hockey Association teams won three games over the weekend.
• The Bantam A Minor Gold Division team defeated the Cambria Warriors, 7-1, on Sunday at S&T Bank Arena.
Nick Buchkovich collected three goals and an assist for Indiana. Brandon Boyer had a goal and two assists, Zach Beitel, Nate Farris and Ryan Neese each added a goal and an assist, and Aaron Burkhart chipped in two assists.
Luke Schrecengost, Alex Guth-Borowski and Clark Josephson each tacked on an assist, and goalie Alec Stiffler made 10 saves.
• The Bantam A Minor Gold Division team beat the North Hills Vipers, 7-2, on Saturday at S&T Bank Arena.
Schrecengost led Indiana with three goals and an assist. Farris, Burkhart and Boyer each had a goal and an assist, Beitel and Buchkovich each added an assist, and goalie Stiffler made seven saves.
• The U-14 girls’ team blanked host Morgantown, 4-0, on Saturday.
Allisyn Arotin tallied three goals and an assist to power Indiana.
Hannah Fondren added a goal, Natalie Hill had an assist, Carlie Glavach chipped in a goal, and goalie Madison Barker made 21 saves.
Rado wins football contest
Drew Rado, of Indiana, won the 10th and final edition of the Gazette’s weekly football contest.
Rado picked 18 of 20 games correctly and wrote in 58 points for the tiebreaker (Patriots 55, Steelers 31 for 84 total points).
Each weekly winner receives $200 in Football Bucks.
Fan bus set for A-R game
Apollo-Ridge football fans will have a chance to hitch a ride to the game this Friday, but if they feel like staying in, can listen to the WPIAL quarterfinals game from the comfort of their own home.
Apollo-Ridge plays Sto-Rox in the WPIAL Class A quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. at Deer Lakes High School.
A fan bus sponsored by the school’s Touchdown Club is available. The bus will leave Apollo-Ridge High School at 5:15 p.m. and Owens Field at 5:30 p.m.
Also, the Apollo-Ridge-Sto-Rox game will be broadcast live by Western Pennsylvania high school sports radio outlet MSA Sports Network on www.msasports.net.

All-Heritage CC squads named
The Heritage Conference named its all-conference teams for boys’ and girls’ cross country.
The boys’ team is comprised of Blairsville’s Ryan Horchar, Alex Horchar, Derek Rocks and Austin McLean, Homer-Center’s Logan Pollack, Ligonier Valley’s Carlos Chavez, Marion Center’s Kyle Anderson, Northern Cambria’s Gus Yahner, Penns Manor’s J.T. Horwat and Roman Tate, Purchase Line’s Dan Learn and Taylor Antisdel, and United’s Gaige George.
The girls’ team is made up of Blairsville’s Taylor Koches, Homer-Center’s Heather Paynter, Ligonier Valley’s Steph Heming, Marion Center’s Taya Whitfield, Hannah Fulton and Bailey Cribbs, Northern Cambria’s Allyson Kopera and Siena Previte, Penns Manor’s Morgan Johnston, Purchase Line’s Cassie McCoy, and United’s Eden Bloom and Ryleigh Ludwig.
