SERRA CATHOLIC 4, HOMER-CENTER 2: Serra Catholic mustered just three hits but used a two-run rally in the top of the sixth inning to outlast Homer-Center in a non-conference game at First Commonwealth Field.

With the game tied 2-2, Serra Catholic scored two runs on no hits and two errors in the sixth to take the lead for good.

Matt Jones doubled and tripled to pace Homer-Center. Jones also tossed a three-hitter, striking out nine and walking one.

Andrew Gaydosh, Ean Lee and Anthony Caruso each singled twice for Homer-Center.

Homer-Center (9-6) travels to Purchase Line today.


GREENSBURG SALEM 4, DERRY 1: With its ticket already punched to the playoffs, third-place Derry mustered just four hits and got blanked for the last six innings en route to a loss to host Greensburg Salem in WPIAL Section 2-AAA game.

The Golden Lions scored two runs on a hit, a walk, a hit batsman and an error in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead.

Kyle Renk scored on a groundout in the sixth to extend Greensburg Salem’s lead to 4-1.

Joey Kelly fanned four, walked one and allowed three earned runs in a complete-game losing effort.

Derry (8-7, 7-5) travels to Latrobe today.
