H.S. FOOTBALL: Homer-Center 37, Purchase Line 14
HOMER CITY — Homer-Center raced to a 31-6 lead at halftime and dominated Purchase Line on the line of scrimmage in a victory Friday night in a Heritage Conference football game at Memorial Field.
The Wildcats were strong from the start. They forced a three-and-out to begin the game and then marched 63 yards on the ensuing possession to jump to a 6-0 lead. Ean Lee capped the drive with a 25-yard run.
Just 11 seconds later, the Red Dragons’ Grant Syster returned the kickoff 75 yards to tie the score, but that’s as close as Purchase Line would get until fourth quarter.
Quarterback Aaron Berezansky added two rushing touchdowns, Mike Newhouse scored twice, and Jim Bence caught a touchdown pass for the Wildcats.
Sam Stanford tacked on Purchase Line’s other touchdown on a 79-yard run at the beginning of the final quarter.
