HS SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Northern Cambria pair teams up to fire no-hitter

Kelly Lieb and Lakyn Fornari combined on a three-inning no-hitter as Northern Cambria rolled to a 19-0 victory over Harmony in a non-conference high school girls’ softball game shortened by the 15-run mercy rule Wednesday in Westover.

Lieb had no strikeouts and no walks in the first two innings, and Fornari struck out two and walked one in the third.

The Colts plated 11 runs in the top of the third inning to bring the 15-run rule into effect.

Ashley Farabaugh clubbed a two-run home run and finished with two hits and four RBIs. Brooke Bernard, Bre Sabella, Alyssa Walters and Jordan Tenerowicz also had two hits each.

Kelly Stiver took the loss for Harmony (0-4), striking out three and walking seven.

Northern Cambria (3-2) visits Blairsville on Friday.


PENNS MANOR 14, PURCHASE LINE 6: Annette Marshall collected four hits, including two doubles, and Penns Manor broke out for 15 hits in its first victory of the season in a Heritage Conference game at Purchase Line.

Kaylin Templeton, Alaina Laverick and Megan McCunn had two hits each for the Comets. Templeton and Emily Stupic tripled, and McCunn added a double.

McCunn was the winning pitcher, striking out four and walking eight in four innings.

Purchase Line’s Kira Smith struck out two and walked one in three innings.

Savannah Green cracked a double for the Red Dragons.

Penns Manor (1-3) plays host to Marion Center this afternoon, and Purchase Line (1-3) visits Homer-Center on Friday.
