HS TRACK AND FIELD: Both Indiana teams place third at inaugural relays
The Indiana boys’ and girls’ track and field teams each placed third at the inaugural Indiana Relays on Monday.
The Indiana boys’ team finished with 83 points, and the girls’ team finished with 71. Greensburg Salem won the boys’ and girls’ events with 112 and 91 points, respectively.
Darrious Carter paced the boys’ team by participating on the winning triple jump, long jump and distance medley relay teams.
The triple jump team also included Darnae Clemons and Chris Caroff, the long jump team also included Ben Snyder and Clemons, and the distance medley team also included Ryan Louther and Adam Lenze.
Also, the Indians’ pole vault and shot put teams placed first. The pole vault team was made up of Brian Waryck, Dakota Harper and Jacob Kester, and the shot put team consisted of Justin Spencer, J.D. Hilditch and Cody Sexton.
On the girls’ side, Aaryn Gray, Morgan Schamus and Zoe Zahorchak made up the winning javelin team. Also, the high jump team of Keaton Lauver, Alyssa Millen and Abbey Karcher took first.
The Indiana boys’ team will travel to West Mifflin on Wednesday to take on West Mifflin, Gateway, South Fayette and Uniontown in the semifinal round of the WPIAL Class AAA team playoffs. Indiana must defeat each of its four opponents Wednesday to advance to the WPIAL finals.
