INDIANA COUNTY LEAGUE BASEBALL: West Lebanon sweeps doubleheader
West Lebanon amassed a combined 21 hits and took over third place in the league standings by sweeping New Derry, 12-2, and 11-4, in an Indiana County League baseball doubleheader Sunday at Bertolino Field.
West Lebanon piled up 11 hits in the first game and scored six runs in the last three innings to earn a lopsided win.
Anthony Piccolini went 3-for-4 with a double, a two-run homer, three runs scored and three RBIs to lead West Lebanon. Mike Percic singled, doubled and drove in two runs, Shane Wingard went 2-for-4 and scored three runs, and Dylin Brooks doubled and drove in two runs.
Garrett Mack tossed a three-hitter to pick up the win. Mack fanned five, walked five and served up a run in each of the third and fourth innings. Scott Dixon clubbed a solo homer to pace the Tigers.
In the second game, West Lebanon scored four runs in each of the last two innings to pull away and cap the sweep.
Wingard went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to power West Lebanon. Zach Long went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, Percic singled twice, Piccolini singled and drove in four runs, and Brooks singled and drove in three runs.
Tyler Beitel struck out four, walked four and surrendered nine hits in a complete-game win.
Dixon went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead New Derry. Dom DePalma went 3-for-4.
Both teams play on the road Tuesday. West Lebanon (8-8-1) travels to Bovard and New Derry (6-11) heads to Apollo.
