NEW DERRY — Blairsville’s Andrew Iezzi made the difference in a pitchers’ duel and scored in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Colts to a 2-1 win over New Derry in an Indiana County League baseball game Thursday at New Derry Field.
Iezzi, who led off the seventh with a base hit, advanced to second on a bunt and moved to third on an error. The next batter, Joe Culler, lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Iezzi.
David Doak and Jared Pennavaria each singled and doubled for the Colts. Jordan Truscott went 2-for-4.
Pennavaria struck out three, walked two and allowed seven hits and no earned runs in a complete-game win.
Jesse Hart and Luke Yandrick each singled twice to pace the Tigers.
Losing pitcher Seth Stinson struck out four, walked one and allowed eight hits and one earned run in six innings.
Both teams play Sunday. Blairsville (7-6-1) travels to West Lebanon, and New Derry (6-9) plays host to Bovard.
