CALIFORNIA — Top-seeded Yough outhit eighth-seeded Indiana 10-2 and scored in every inning but the first to roll to an 11-1 win in a WPIAL Class 4A quarterfinal-round softball playoff game Wednesday at California’s Lilley Field.

Yough pitcher Kierra Waywood fanned 10 and walked none. Lauren Bertig and Madison Barker recorded Indiana’s lone hits, a pair of singles in the top of the fourth inning.

“She was good,” Indiana coach Harold Wilson said of Waywood. “She had a nice speed and a nice curveball that we just couldn’t seem to catch up to. That was probably the most strikeouts we’ve had all season. She just did a nice job of keeping us off balance.”

Bertig struck out four and walked four in a complete-game effort.

Indiana concluded its season with a record of 11-8.
