IUP FOOTBALL: Crimson Hawks crush Cheyney, 49-0

The host Crimson Hawks used a 28-point first quarter to open up their first home game of the season, and IUP went on to crush Cheyney, 49-0, in a PSAC crossover game Saturday at George P. Miller Stadium.

De’Antwan Williams rushed for three touchdowns and quarterback Mike Box passed for 210 yards and three touchdowns as IUP, which entered the game ranked No. 8 in the AFCA Top 25, improved to 2-0 on the season.

Erik Finklea added a rushing touchdown for IUP, and Box’s touchdown passes went to Terrill Barnes (56 yards), Tyler Dummermuth (17) and Sean McVay (11).

IUP has never lost to Cheyney in seven meetings. The Crimson Hawks have outscored the Wolves 321-26 in the all-time series.

IUP opens PSAC West play by visiting Seton Hill on Saturday. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
