IUP ROUNDUP: Pair of IUP athletes earn postseason honors
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — IUP field hockey player Kate Bruce was recently named second team All-America by Synapse Sports.
The senior midfielder, who was an All-America selection for the first time, led the Crimson Hawks with 25 points and tied for the team lead with 10 goals. Both marks were career-highs. She also added five assists, third on the team, and started in 14 games.
Bruce was also a second-team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selection this year. In two seasons with the Crimson Hawks, she started 33 of 36 games played, and finished her career with 15 goals, 10 assists and 40 career points.
WOMEN’S SOCCER: Senior Tonya Fabian was recently named to the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division II All-Atlantic team.
Fabian was the only IUP player named to the All-Region team, and it is her third appearance on the third team.
Earlier this year, she was named first team All-PSAC.
Fabian started in 16 games for Crimson Hawks this season. She recorded five goals and three assists for 15 points, and finished her three-year career at IUP with 12 goals and 12 assists.
