by The Indiana Gazette on April 20, 2017 10:34 AM

IUP sophomore Lauren Zola struck out 10 in a two-hitter to lead IUP to a 3-1 win over Mercyhurst in the opening game of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover softball doubleheader Wednesday at Ruth Podbielski Field.

Mercyhurst won the second game, 6-4.

Zola walked three and allowed just one earned run to notch her 11th complete game. Hannah Mercer went a combined 4-for-7 with a double to pace the Crimson Hawks. She collected three hits in the second game, her 11th multi-hit game of the season.

In the second game, Marion Center graduate and IUP starter Megan Risinger kept the Lakers off the board until the sixth inning.

IUP (18-15) plays host to Bloomsburg on Friday.
