IUP SWIMMING: Long wins third straight PSAC title in 200 butterfly

YORK — IUP’s Steve Long won the 200-yard butterfly for the third straight season at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Swimming Championships on Saturday.

Long’s time of 1 minutes, 50.59 seconds was one second better than his time from the 2012-13 meet. He also posted an NCAA B cut time.

Alex Plimpton took fourth in the 500 freestyle with an NCAA B cut time of 4:35.24.

Other top 10 finishers for the Crimson Hawks were Ben Adams, Brandon Hopkins and Zach Fountain. Adams finished fourth in the 200 butterfly at 1:54.50, and Hopkins came in seventh in the 500 freestyle at 4:39.19. Fountain took ninth in the 100 breaststroke at 58.15.

The 800 medley relay team of Chriss Strauss, Plimpton, Matthew Nakagama and Hopkins took fourth with a time of 6:58.32.

The meet concludes today.
