IUP SWIMMING: Snyder wins PSAC title
YORK — Taylor Snyder won the 50-yard freestyle, and the IUP women held second place after the first day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Swimming Championships.
Snyder’s time of 23.60 seconds was good for an NCAA B cut time and was just .27 seconds off of her school record.
IUP swimmers also set a pair of school records. Allyson Mitidieri finished second in the 200 individual medley at 2:01.59, posting an NCAA automatic qualifying time and breaking Jackie Hynson’s two-year-old mark by 01.44 seconds.
Snyder and Mitidieri teamed with Emily Shumaker and Aniella Janosky to break their own school record in the 200 medley relay at 1:44.27, which was good enough for an NCAA B cut time.
Christina Janosky (1,000 freestyle, 10:16.65) and Paige Spradling (200 individual medley, 2:08) also met NCAA B cut times.
In the men’s meet, Brandon Hopkins broke his own school record in the 1,000 freestyle, finishing sixth at 9:30.77, one second faster than his previous record. He posted an NCAA B cut time.
Alex Plimpton also set an NCAA B cut time in the same event, finishing seventh at 9:34.81.
Zach Fountain finished third in the 200 individual medley at 1:52.95, and Andrew Richey took fifth in the 50 freestyle at 21.46.
The 200 medley relay team of Paul Singerman, Fountain, Steve Long and Richey broke their own school record with a time of 1:32.96.
