Elizabeth Sova, a junior on the IUP women’s volleyball team, became the first IUP player since 2006 to earn a selection to the All-PSAC West first team.

The Crimson Hawks have had eight second-team selections since 2006, when Brittany Gates was the last IUP player to earn a first-team honor.

A middle blocker, Sova earned her first postseason award after leading the team in several offensive categories including kills (324), kills per set (2.75) and hitting percentage (.316).

She notched double-digit kills 16 times during the season, including a career-high 25 against Notre Dame (Ohio). Sova finished the season averaging 12.3 kills per match and 3.5 kills per set in the last four matches.

Sova was also one of IUP’s top defensive players, leading the team with 98.0 total blocks and 0.83 blocks per set.

Playing in 33 of IUP’s 34 matches, she finished the season with a team-high 398 points scored.

Sova has run her career marks to 626 kills and 232 total blocks, which rank 14th and ninth all-time, respectively, in IUP history.
