by The Indiana Gazette on June 28, 2014 10:25 AM

Walbeck Insurance squandered an early four-run lead but used a four-run rally in the top of the eighth inning to best host Marion Center, 9-5, in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game Friday.

With two outs and the bases loaded in the eighth and down to his last strike, Ryan Orsargos ripped a two-run base hit up the middle and drove in the game-winning run and an insurance run to make it 7-5.

The next batter, Sam Cunkleman, smacked a two-run double to give Walbeck Insurance a 9-5 lead.

Walbeck Insurance outhit Marion Center, 11-4.

“We battled back to tie it, (but) we just didn’t do enough to win it,” Marion Center coach Don Stitt said. “They did a good job and they hit the ball well. They obviously hit the ball better than we did.”

Michael Ginter led Walbeck Insurance with three singles. Orsargos had two singles.

A.J. Perry surrendered two hits and no runs in 2 1-3 innings of relief to get the win.

Matt Badzik singled twice and drove in two runs to pace Marion Center.

Jordan Williams struck out five and walked two in 4 2-3 innings of relief for Marion Center.

Marion Center (7-9) plays host to I-Medical today. Walbeck Insurance (8-9) travels to Young Township on Monday.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 11, HOMER CITY LEGION 1: Host Punxsutawney plated four runs in the first and third innings to race to a fast start, then limited Homer City Legion to just three hits en route to a lopsided win.

Dakota Thomas struck out five, walked two and served up three hits and one run in five innings to earn the win.

Clayton Dale singled twice to lead Punxsutawney. Michael Klingensmith singled and scored three runs, and Ruben Taylor and Brandon Douthit each singled and drove in two runs.

Both teams play on the road today. Punxsutawney (5-6) travels to Indiana Legion, and Homer City Legion heads to Young Township.
