Record crowd sees Hawks fall short
Gannon snapped IUP’s six-game winning streak and took the inside track to the top seed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division basketball race by beating the Crimson Hawks, 67-62, at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex on Saturday night.
The Golden Knights, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, improved to 16-8 overall and 10-3 in the Division. IUP fell to 20-3 and 10-3, but Gannon holds the tiebreaker in the division by virtue of its season sweep of the two-game series.
In the women’s game, Gannon dealt IUP a 73-64 loss and improved to 23-3 overall and 12-2 in the division. IUP fell to 15-8 and 6-7.
The crowd for the men’s game was listed at 3,621, that largest in the three seasons IUP has been playing at the KCAC.
