Sendoff set for Wildcats
HOMER CITY — Fans of the Homer-Center High School football team are encouraged to attend a team sendoff along South Main Street at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The No. 2-seeded Wildcats play fifth-seeded Bishop Guilfoyle for the District 6 Class A championship at 7 p.m. Saturday at Altoona’s Mansion Park.
IYHA team wins two games
The Indiana Youth Hockey Association’s U-14 girls’ team won a pair of road games over the weekend.
Allisyn Arotin scored four goals to help Indiana nip Allegheny, 5-4, on Sunday.
Hannah Fondren added a goal and two assists, and Carlie Glavach, Taylor Lang, Adriana Guth Borowski and Madison Barker each had an assist. Barker made 13 saves in goal.
Fondren notched a hat trick to power Indiana to a 6-0 win over South Hills on Saturday.
Arotin collected two goals and two assists, Natalie Hill added a goal, and Glavach and Lang each had an assist. Barker made 11 saves.
IUP women’s swimmers ranked
The IUP women’s swimming team is ranked 12th in the latest NCAA Division II poll, released by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
Grand Valley State is the top team in the nation while California San Diego is second and Queens (N.C.) is third. Florida Southern and Wingate round out the top five.
IUP is back in the pool this week in the three-day John A. Pidgeon Invitational on Thursday through Saturday.
