SENIOR LEGION ROUNDUP: Indiana nips Young Township
Indiana Legion’s Bo Putt ripped an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Ponies to a 5-4 win over Young Township in an Indiana County Senior Legion baseball game Wednesday at Keystone Rehab Field.
Putt went 4-for-5 with a double to power Indiana Legion. Kevin Jack and Grant Schrecengost each singled twice and drove in two runs, and Izaak Gray went 2-for-4.
Matt Griffith struck out one, walked none and allowed no hits and no runs in one inning of relief to pick up the win.
Brady Neal and Jarrett Geiger each went 2-for-4 to pace the Renegades.
Both teams play on the road today. Young Township (13-5) travels to Homer City Legion and Indiana Legion heads to Punxsutawney.
PUNXSUTAWNEY 6, MARION CENTER 4: Punxsutawney amassed 15 hits and held off a late push from Marion Center to earn a win on the road.
Marion Center plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to trim Punxsutawney’s lead to 6-4, but the comeback fell short when Marion Center stranded two runners in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Dakota Thomas went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to lead Punxsutawney. Brandon Douthit went 3-for-3, and Dakota Byers singled and doubled.
Thomas struck out three, walked four and allowed six hits in six innings to get the win. Cory Geer allowed two hits in one inning of relief to pick up the save.
Luke Ruddock went 2-for-2 with a triple to power Marion Center. Matt Shank singled and doubled, and Erik Hicks singled twice.
Both teams play today. Marion Center (2-13) travels to Kovacik Insurance and Punxsutawney plays host to Indiana Legion.
