Sled hockey fundraiser set
RICHLAND TOWNSHIP — The Sitting Bulls, a sled hockey team based out of Johnstown that includes players from Indiana County, will hold their annual game against local media and educator all-stars, including the Pittsburgh Steelers’ LaRod Stephens-Howling, on Sunday, March 23, at Planet Ice.
Doors open at 1 p.m. and the faceoff is at 2:45.
Tickets are $5 and include a chance to win an autographed jersey from Chris Kunitz of the Pittsburgh Penguins. There will also be basket raffles, a silent auction and an intermission chuck-a-puck contest.
Sled hockey provides an opportunity for physically challenged youths to play competitive ice hockey. The game follows all of the same rules as USA Hockey, but the players play sitting on a sled instead of skates and use two shortened sticks to propel themselves on the ice.
New and potential players are invited to attend. Practices are held Saturdays at 4 p.m. at Planet Ice.
