S.W. Jack tops Young Township

WEST LEBANON — Chase Kromer fanned 13 batters in a complete-game win as S.W. Jack defeated Young Township, 7-0, in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game Friday at Bertolino Field.

Kromer blanked Young Township on four hits and walked five in seven innings. He pitched with a slim lead most of the game. The Black Sox plated two runs in the first inning but went scoreless before scoring five in the seventh.

Tanner Yard went 2-for-3 to lead Young Township. He also tossed a complete game, striking out six and walking five.

S.W. Jack (8-3) plays host to United NRG on Monday, and Young Township (7-3) visits Derry on Sunday.

• MARION CENTER — Marion Center fell behind and clawed back but ended up with an 11-6 loss to Walbeck Insurance.

Austin Trausi had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs for Walbeck, which scored the game’s first 10 runs. Matt Alexander, Levi Bruner and Sam Kunkleman added two hits each.

Alex Arone struck out five and walked one in four innings for the win.

Jordan Williams had two hits, including a triple, for Marion Center.

Marion Center’s Taylor McCunn struck out four and did not issue a walk in three innings.

Both teams play Monday. Walbeck (5-5) travels to Derry, and Marion Center (0-14) welcomes Clymer Legion.

Gilgal wins softball game

Gilgal Presbyterian pulled away in the fourth inning and defeated Summit Church, 15-3, in an Indiana County Church League softball game Friday evening.

Ben Harley went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Bobb Patterson, Scott Bowman and winning pitcher Jeff Cribbs each went 3-for-4 to pace Gilgal. Ken Campbell added two hits and three RBIs.

Randy Colgan, George Edwards and Caleb Kuntz had two hits each for Summit Church.

McDonald’s to play for title

McDonald’s, the top team in the regular season in Indiana Little League, defeated Delaney, 5-3, to advance to the championship round of the 11- and 12-year-old league playoffs.

Luke Thomas and Aaron Burkhart tallied two hits each for McDonald’s. Thomas drove in three runs and Burkhart added one RBI. Thomas also was the winning pitcher.

Ryan Dixson slugged a home run and finished with two hits and two RBIs for Delaney.
