YOUTH LEGION: Young Township crushes United

Just before the rain hit Bertolino Field, Young Township plated five runs in the third inning and surrendered just four hits en route to a 7-1 win over United NRG in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game Wednesday.

The game was shortened to five innings due to rain.

Young Township extended its early one-run lead and plated five runs on four hits and four walks in the bottom of the third to take a 6-0 lead.

Jake Townsend went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to lead Young Township. Sammy Heffrin finished 2-for-2. Winning pitcher Tyler Hill tossed a four-hitter. He struck out seven and walked four.

Losing pitcher Kylar Baird struck out seven, walked six and allowed six hits in four innings.

United NRG (2-7) heads to Marion Center on Saturday. Young Township (8-3) travels to I-Medical on Monday.


I-MEDICAL 6, WALBECK INSURANCE 1: I-Medical scored three runs in each of the first and second innings and backed a solid pitching effort from Isaac Stouffer to topple visiting Walbeck Insurance in a game that was shortened to five innings due to rain.

Stouffer struck out three and served up seven hits in a complete-game win.

Tyler Richardson had two hits to power I-Medical.

Matt Alexander and Ryan Orsargos each had two hits for Walbeck Insurance.

Walbeck Insurance (4-7) plays host to Kovacik Insurance on Saturday. I-Medical (8-3) plays host to Young Township on Monday.
