MLB: Sanchez earns top honor
RENO, Nev. — Tony Sanchez, a catcher who was drafted fourth overall by the Pirates in the 2009, blasted a three-run home run into the right-field stands in the second inning and was named the Top Star in the International League’s 4-3 victory over the Pacific Coast League in the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday at Aces Ballpark.
Sanchez drilled Astros prospect Jarred Cosart’s belt-high fastball over the right-field wall to put the IL ahead, 4-2.
At Indianapolis, Sanchez is batting .282 with a .364 on-base percentage and more home runs (nine) than all of last year.
