NCAA WRESTLING: Penn State wrestler accepts ARD
STATE COLLEGE (AP) — A two-time NCAA wrestling champion at Penn State has been accepted into a special probation program for first-time offenders in hopes of resolving drunken driving charges.
The Centre Daily Times reported Ed Ruth, 23, was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program earlier this week. Defendants in the program don’t plead guilty. They’re placed on probation and can have their arrest record expunged if they complete the supervision without incident.
State College police say Ruth’s blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit when he hit a tree while trying to park along the street Nov. 13.
Ruth was suspended from the team for about a month, returning Dec. 15.
