by New York Times News Service on April 13, 2014 7:25 PM

Bubba Watson shot a 3-under-par 69 on Sunday in Augusta, Ga., to hold off Jordan Spieth and win the Masters for a second time.

Watson, who finished at 8-under-par 280, also won in 2012. Spieth shot a 72 to tie for second, three strokes back, with Jonas Blixt (71).

Entering the day, Watson was tied for the lead with Spieth, 20, who was trying to become the youngest champion in Masters history.

Watson trailed by two strokes as they headed to the eighth hole, but he reclaimed the lead by making two straight birdies as Spieth made consecutive bogeys.
