BURRELL TOWNSHIP — The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining has opened its newest office in Huntsville, Ala., in cooperation with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Aviation & Missile Center in Redstone Arsenal, Ala.
The Aviation & Missile Center, formerly known as AMRDEC, conducts research, exploratory and advanced development, and one-stop lifecycle engineering support for aviation and missile weapons systems and unmanned aerial and ground vehicle platforms.
It also is also one of eight science and technology domains within a newly formed U.S. Army Futures Command.
A new hire for NCDMM, Mike Docherty, will head the office.
The Burrell Township-based organization said Docherty brings more than 25 years of Department of Defense program/project management experience across all services, including air, ground, naval and weapons platforms.
His title will be director of manufacturing technology.
The new office gives NCDMM four locations, including its headquarters just outside Blairsville, and offices in Chambersburg, Pa., and Youngstown, Ohio.
