DR. AUDRA SPICER: Compassionate Friends reaches out to families
It is the Christmas season, a time for giving, yet many of us feel that much has been taken away by the massacre of schoolchildren in Newtown.
The parents, siblings and families of the Sandy Hook children have the holiday season ahead of them, with all of the presents that will never be opened and the pain of this year seared across their lives.
It all seems so much to bear, yet there is something that each of us can do to help.
As part of your gift-giving, please consider a donation to Compassionate Friends at www.compassionatefriends.org/donation.aspx. If you prefer to mail a donation, send it to The Compassionate Friends, P.O. Box 3696, Oak Brook, IL 60522.
Compassionate Friends is an organization where bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents meet together to talk, listen, share and provide emotional support for families that are dealing with the devastating death of a child.
The organization is the effort of families.
People who have lost their own child are already reaching out to the families in Connecticut, and your donation can immediately help their efforts. Give in memory of one of the children or adults in Sandy Hook Elementary or give in memory of a child in your life who was taken too soon. This Christmas, just give.
