Letter to the Editor: A cane in crosswalk does not mean go
The other day I was crossing Philadelphia Street in Indiana on the way back from the library and got stuck in the middle of the crosswalk. I did wait for the cross signal to turn on and it was flashing.
The cars making the right-hand turn in front of me would not yield. Jimmy Stewart was counting down the seconds so I picked out a car in the lineup, raised my cane and shook it at him. He stopped and I finally was able to get across the road.
Remember, the law is yield to the pedestrian in the crosswalk. (Even when everybody else is breaking the law and getting away with it.)
